Now that your Shopify store is connected to your GEM-BOOKS, see How to connect your Shopify online store? you can synchronize products from GEM-BOOKS to Shopify. Please note that synchronization is one-way to Shopify and not the other way around.

To activate the synchronization of a product, go to its ECom tab and check the box Show on subsequent online stores and Save. It's now online and active on your Shopify store!

If you no longer wish to sell this product on your store, you can uncheck the Show on subsequent online stores box and its status will change to Draft on Shopify. Please note that if you delete the product from your Shopify store, it will no longer be possible to resynchronize it from GEM-BOOKS.

The items that transfer are the product name, the cost and selling price, the brief description and the ECom tab description. If your product is inactive, or if the Show on subsequent online stores box on the ECom tab has been unchecked, it will appear on Shopify with the Status, Draft. The category the product is in will become its collection in Shopify.

Note: If the product's Status is Active, but it still doesn't appear on your site, make sure it's in your Online Shop, in the Sales channels and applications section.

Inventory

Whether you make a purchase or manually adjust a product's inventory in GEM-BOOKS, the number of items in stock is also transferred to Shopify.

Three hats

Instead of making 3 different products with the codes BBADNOIR, BBADGRIS and BBADBEIGE, you can make the BBAD product with three linked products or variants; black, grey and beige.

On your ECom store, you'll have a choice of colors. Each product will have its own UPC code (bar code), price, etc.

If you want your products to be presented on your site as a single product with a series of options, you need to create at least one attribute. In this example, the Color attribute.

If you haven't already done so, you'll need to activate the Enable attribute system option in the GEM-BOOKS configurations via the Configurations > Configurations > Global tab.

Next, create the “Color” attribute that will be applied to Products in the Settings > Attributes menu. 

Then simply associate these attributes with your products in the Attributes tab of the product sheet.

The parent product is your main product. For example, the black felt hat will be the main product, and the other related products will be color variants. All related products must have the same attribute as the parent product.
